I Love You, Shoe

Let's become best friends. If you promise to always look your best and show off my tootsies to the best of your ability, I promise to reserve you for special occasions and fancy parties, and provide you with a good home. Feel free to stop by my place sometime to chat about it. Preferably in a size 5 1/2. Maybe even a 6.

Seeing Stripes

I've got my zebra print cardigan on today. It's still one of my most favorite purchases/successful experiments. While I think that my plain black reeeally reeeally big black sunglasses go best with it, I can't help but covet these zebra print sunglasses. They would complement a plain black cardi quite nicely, no? They'd also be a great addition to my ever-growing collection of ridiculously large sunglasses.

The Answer Is...

Lalalalove this fashionable statement from Viktor & Rolf for their fall 2008 show in Paris.
I can think of at least a few days when I wouldn't mind wearing this, just so people got the message loud and clear: don't even bother asking.

Dot Dot Dot

This cute little cosmetic pouch is on sooper dooper sale right now. And it matches the inner lining of the radical badical coat I recently purchased for more than I should have. If it were a clutch, I'd buy it in a NY minute.

Seeing Red

Some thoughts on the Oscars.

First, red. Red here, red, there, red red red everywhere. 2 straps, one-strapped, no straps, feathered, fluttery, fitted, simply stunning scarlet. Red was the color of the night. I wonder if those who didn't wear red felt left out. Like they didn't get the memo.

Second, movies. I liked the bit of all the past winners throughout the show. Especially the past winners for Best Picture. I'd like to make it a goal to watch all 80 by next years show. I'll keep you updated.
Third, lalalalove. Sososo in lalalalove with Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard. Plus their smiling song, second speech and little movie---scratch that, little art, Once.

Warm Thoughts

It's only the end of January. Yesterday, my friend said "Don't you wish it was summer right now...like the middle of June?" The weather is so miserably cold and smug, that in my extreme desperation I replied, "Right now, I'd settle for April." You know it's bad when you'll settle for moderate average temps instead of warm fuzzy ones.

If it can't be April, I might as well pretend. To get in the spirit of April-ness, I purchased 2 springtime jackets this week. At a discount no less. What the? Who the? How the? Apparently online retailers are as desperate for sunnier days as I am.

Experiment

I'm a pretty petite person. By that, I mean sometimes I purchase childrens clothing from retailers simply because it is the exact same as the adult line and it costs less. I decided to try out Crewcuts by J.Crew. I could only find it online in my neck of the woods, so I purchased a zebra-stripe cardigan. In size XXL, which JCrew says is supposed to fit a 10-year old.

Result: It totally fits me.
Which can only mean one of three things: 1) I am incredibly small, or 2) JCrew's sizes are incredibly large, or 3) 10-year olds just ain't what they used to be.

Stuff The Socks: Sweet Treats

In lalalalove with the packaging for these Juicy Couture boy shorts. How fun is it to get a beautiful treat in your stocking that looks tasty yet doesn't pack on the calories. Talk about guilt-free goods. I must be in heaven.

Stuff the Socks: Scarves

I'm such a sucker for a lovely and inexpensive scarf. I hoard them. Scarves make good sense for gift giving because they are practical, yet whimsical and pretty to look at. Paired with gloves or a hat, they make great gifts. Better yet, on their own they are the best stocking stuffers.

All from F21.

Like A Moth to the Flame

I woke up early this morning and made a beeline for Target. Had to check out the Erin Fetherston collection. I tried on practically everything. So if you have a question about fit or sizing, don't hesitate to ask. Seriously though. I should hardly be thinking of myself. I mean, at this time of year, shouldn't I just be thankful for the clothes I have this week? And then next week, realize that I need to buy for others, not me. I can't help myself. I have an unhealthy relationship with Target's GO Designers. Like I havehavehave to see them nownownow. The sense of urgency is beyond ridiculous. Once, in NY, I made my husband drive us out Jersey to a Target that wasn't by NYC cuz I just knew the closest ones would be picked over. Another time, I made my sister take me even though her baby wanted to go home and eat. He obviously doesn't appreciate designer clothing. At a discount, no less!

But what I'm meaning to say is that if you watched the Erin Fetherston video Ali put up on her blog, you'll realize that she hit the nail on the head. Erin, not Ali (sorry, sis). Her video captures the essence of her collection so perfectly (read the sign toward the beginning of it and you'll catch on quickly). Ethereal, playful, charming. Hearts (not just appliqued but we're talking all buttons are heart shaped buttons), bows, frills. Fantasyland...just like she says. How fun would it be to live (and design) in her world?

Over The Top

I've always wanted an overcoat such as this. One so beautimous, romantical and old-timey that there's really no need for removal when indoors. Just let people oooh and ahhh over it all night long. Unless, you start sweating, of course. Or eat spaghetti. Both would be grounds for removal.

Oh, You Shouldn't Have: Brit Boot

These popped into my inbox yesterday, and it was lalalalove at first sight. Am certain I will look quite smart strutting around town in them with a billowy scarf 'round my neck. Thank you, in advance, to the elf who is placing these under my Christmas tree. {Hint, hint.}

Razzle Dazzle 'Em

All that glitters is gold. These love dovies are just begging (practically pleading) to go to a party this holiday season. Totally party-worthy. Not necessarily budget-worthy.

These, are fantastic and much more wallet-friendly. Seriously, a walking disco ball. How could you leave the party without transforming into a dance dance dance dance dancin' machine? Lalalalove at first sight.

My Feet are Whimpering

Ugh. I walked and shopped alot today. At the greatest outlet malls in the world. At least the best ones that are just a hop, skip, & a jump away. Anyhoo, my feet hurt. I'm pretty sure I know why. I tried on a pair of bee-yootiful-gorgeous-amazing-wonderful-glorious-hip-stylish-sooper califragilistic expensive-aladocious shoes. They fit so wonderfully (like a glove), so I took a stroll around the store in them and fell even more in love. Oh, the sugary sweet comfort of pure unadulterated luxury. Seriously, they were easily worth the $800 price tag based on comfort alone. Then, sadly, I had to slip them off and return them to their rightful place on the rack and put my poor little feet back into my $15 flats from Target. Now my feet are punishing me. Boo-hoo! Waaaaahhhh. Sob sob sob. Sniff sniff.

Stretch It Out

If wishes were kisses...
I'd be struttin' my stuff around in these sweet caramello looking Loeffler Randall boots. Lalalalove the mini wedge. Love it.

Twee Tweed

Nothing says fall fashion quite like tweed. My fashion compass seems to gravitate toward it this time every year. I just can't help myself. Somehow I begin to easily blur the line between want and need. For instance, right now. I'm pretty sure that I really really need this ensemble from J. Crew. I just know it's sitting on the rack screaming my name. It breaks my heart to leave it lonely out there wondering where I am. Maybe I'll just pay it a visit today and see how we get along.

Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover (or A Dress By Its Name)

Poor poor dress. You had little hope, what with being labeled the Jersey Puffball Dress from the get go. True, you come from London based design house Bi La Li, so you've got that going for you. And you are constructed from oh so comfortable cotton jersey. But take a look at yourself in photo 1. A bit shapeless. Poofy (like your name says). Some may even say drab. Perhaps lacking the 'wow' factor. Most would pass you by, understanding why you are on the sale rack. But take a lookey at the new you in photo 2. What was once a bit drab looks rather smart. Flirtatious. Chic. Kudos to those lovely accesories. Just goes to show that there is nothing a killer bag, sexy heels, stylish belt, and necklace can't fix.

The Big Apple

With my imminent departure from NYC looming on the horizon, this Kenneth Jay Lane apple pendant necklace may be a nice little memento, no? I've been eyeing it for a while now. I may have to splurge. It also comes in pink, green, and white. But I like red best.

Perfect 10

Bowling shoes are so so cool. Though they definitely have their time and place (not church or cocktail party appropriate), I am convinced they make any everyday outfit 10 times cooler. Sometimes I want to sneak them home with me, though I'm certain I'd feel far too guilty (I am a good citizen, remember?) and end up never wearing them because of it.
