Don't Forget

If I had my own house with my own bathroom with my own mirror (which technically speaking, I do---I'm just not living there yet), I would have this taped to that bathroom mirror. As a daily reminder. Kind of like a different way of saying "Don't forget to stop and smell the roses." It's the words I like. But the photo is pretty sweet too.

David

Went to Target yesterday.

Smelled this.

Kinda liked it...for dudes, obviously.

I'm only a teensy bit ashamed.

I like the Beckhams.

Seeing Stripes

I've got my zebra print cardigan on today. It's still one of my most favorite purchases/successful experiments. While I think that my plain black reeeally reeeally big black sunglasses go best with it, I can't help but covet these zebra print sunglasses. They would complement a plain black cardi quite nicely, no? They'd also be a great addition to my ever-growing collection of ridiculously large sunglasses.

In + Out

This door mat is just the perfect thing for indecisive/commitment-phobic people like me. Place it one way and it says "Go Away", turn that frown upside down and it displays an inviting "Come In." Simple, expressive, and versatile. Depending on how your day goes you could pull a switcharoo.

It kind of reminds me of our family cabin. Where most would post a wrought iron "welcome" sign, my dad proudly hung a barbed wire "go away" sign.

Cousin Lit

Been looking at lots of lighting solutions for the condo. This one makes me confused. I'm not sure if this light makes me want to invite it in for dinner and a movie, or slap it and tell it go run home to its mother.

Lalalalove: Rrribit

In honor of leap year, I thought I'd post something about a frog.

I lalalalove this little frog prince. So much that I gave it to my husband for part of his wedding gift. I thought I was so clever, giving him a spot to hang his ring every night, before falling asleep with visions of me in his head. Problem is, he hasn't worn a wedding ring since our wedding day.

But that's another story for another time. To answer your immediate questions though...No, it does not bother me. Yes, it is a long story. Yes, we are still truly madly deeply. Yes, it is partially my fault.

Dot Dot Dot

This cute little cosmetic pouch is on sooper dooper sale right now. And it matches the inner lining of the radical badical coat I recently purchased for more than I should have. If it were a clutch, I'd buy it in a NY minute.

Chick It Out

With Easter less than a month away (which, BTW, I find to be totally unfair---who wants to hunt for eggs outside in mushy grass March??? Or wear a cute pastel dress, for that matter???) I figured I may as well start poking my nose around for decorations and brunch and whatnot.

These chick feet wire egg cups have been giving me the giggles all week long. I don't even necessarily love eggs prepared in this fashion, but I'm half tempted to make them for displaying purposes.

Breakfast At My Place...Or Yours

Does this bathtub sofa look familiar? It's said to be a modern twist on the pink and purple one Audrey made famous in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Now, all you need is that sweet eyeshade, a guitar, a tiara, and a silly cat to re-enact the whole shabang! Killer looks wouldn't hurt either.

LalalaLOVE LalalaLIVE

This is the living room of my dreams. It's the Paris apartment of Cordelia de Castellane (who also happens to have the legs of my dreams). I once heard it perfectly described as a "colorful and modern mix of luxury and frivolity that definitely doesn't take itself too seriously." I think I once heard someone describe me that way too. Now, if only I could get those LOVEly pillows in that lovely room to say "lalalaLOVE".

Why I Have Reason To Believe There's Hope For Me Having A Career In Product Design

Pisellino, the mischievous cotton swabs holder puts a smile on my face.

Mr. Suicide, the depressed and drowning bathtub plug and float gives me the giggles.

Rondo, the spewing toothpaste tube cap makes me laugh my head off.

P.S. I have no current ambitions to delve into product design. But if I did...

Dainty Desserts

This ice cream scoop and stack is very clever and perfect for making delectable desserts with discs of ice cream that look gorgeous. They would also make it sooper dooper easy to freeze ice cream ahead of time for a dinner party. Plus, they come in fun colors.

You Had Me At '300 Vibrations Per Second'

The Oprah's Favorite Things show was a while ago. But I couldn't bring myself to talk about the details of it until Thanksgiving had its moment to shine.

Now, let's talk shop. As in Christmas shopping. The most fabulouswondrouseye-catchingous thing on Oprah's list this year was the Clarisonic Skin Care System. It claims to remove 6 times more makeup/grime than soap and water alone. 6 times! The bristles vibrate 300 times per second and massage your face to squeaky clean perfection. 300 times per second! Squeaky clean perfection!

I mustmustmust have this.

What was your favorite on the list this year?

Like A Moth to the Flame

I woke up early this morning and made a beeline for Target. Had to check out the Erin Fetherston collection. I tried on practically everything. So if you have a question about fit or sizing, don't hesitate to ask. Seriously though. I should hardly be thinking of myself. I mean, at this time of year, shouldn't I just be thankful for the clothes I have this week? And then next week, realize that I need to buy for others, not me. I can't help myself. I have an unhealthy relationship with Target's GO Designers. Like I havehavehave to see them nownownow. The sense of urgency is beyond ridiculous. Once, in NY, I made my husband drive us out Jersey to a Target that wasn't by NYC cuz I just knew the closest ones would be picked over. Another time, I made my sister take me even though her baby wanted to go home and eat. He obviously doesn't appreciate designer clothing. At a discount, no less!

But what I'm meaning to say is that if you watched the Erin Fetherston video Ali put up on her blog, you'll realize that she hit the nail on the head. Erin, not Ali (sorry, sis). Her video captures the essence of her collection so perfectly (read the sign toward the beginning of it and you'll catch on quickly). Ethereal, playful, charming. Hearts (not just appliqued but we're talking all buttons are heart shaped buttons), bows, frills. Fantasyland...just like she says. How fun would it be to live (and design) in her world?

Bunches of Blonde

Love the earthiness these wheat sheafs bring to home decor. Why is PB's online picture so crappy? I promise, they're much better in person. I like the way wheat catches rays of sunlight and turns them into a gentle shade of amber. It would be cool to display three in a row along a buffet table. Something a bit more modern, but still maintaining that organic feel. Perfect timing for harvest season too.

Razzle Dazzle 'Em

All that glitters is gold. These love dovies are just begging (practically pleading) to go to a party this holiday season. Totally party-worthy. Not necessarily budget-worthy.

These, are fantastic and much more wallet-friendly. Seriously, a walking disco ball. How could you leave the party without transforming into a dance dance dance dance dancin' machine? Lalalalove at first sight.

Holly Sleeplightly

This Holly Golightly sleep mask is practically a dead ringer for the real deal. I've wanted one just like this practically since the day I was born (which is roughly the first time I saw Breakfast at Tiffany's). It's been TLA ever since.

I can find but one flaw in the execution of this getup. The earplugs (see picture below). I've had a love affair with those teal tassels since birth too (it may have even started in the womb). BRAVO! and three cheers for one amazing sleep mask, two thumbs down and a big BOO! for lack of earplugs. Better luck next time, eh, Fred Flare.

Soak It In

Rub-a-dub-dub, I'd die for this tub
And why do you think that be?

The lamp, the chair, and the general flair,
Turn it on, and it massages me.

Bad to the Bone China

This skull & bones dinnerware set from Z Gallerie is dreadfully delightful. Imagine the possibilities...macabre candleabras, long tapered candles dripping wax, and some spooky spiders to set the centerpiece scene. I mean seriously, if you think about it, almost everyone shells out for a Christmas dinnerware set. So why not Halloween?

Joy to the World! (aka, Not To Jump the Gun Or Anything)

But...look what arrived in my mailbox today. This is my most anticipated catalogue of the year. Every single item on every single page is TDF. It's Major.

This years Neiman Marcus Christmas Book commemorates the 100th Anniversary, with fashionable pages inspired by years past (1920s is my hands down fave, followed by 1960s). Plus, the infamous fantasy gifts. How about a chocolate syrup painting for a cool $100k? Or a 305-carat custom diamond necklace for $1m? If that doesn't suit your fancy, there's also a yellow submarine for roughly $1.4m.

OK, no more Christmas until December. Or maybe the day after Thanksgiving.
