Experiment

I'm a pretty petite person. By that, I mean sometimes I purchase childrens clothing from retailers simply because it is the exact same as the adult line and it costs less. I decided to try out Crewcuts by J.Crew. I could only find it online in my neck of the woods, so I purchased a zebra-stripe cardigan. In size XXL, which JCrew says is supposed to fit a 10-year old.

Result: It totally fits me.
Which can only mean one of three things: 1) I am incredibly small, or 2) JCrew's sizes are incredibly large, or 3) 10-year olds just ain't what they used to be.

my little sister is the same. she's 22 and just bought an XL child's Northface jacket. It saved her $45!

4) All of the above!

As someone who used to work at JCrew...yes their sizes are big.

HOORAY FOR TINY PETITES. great idea jamie! love crewcuts and my email has exploded with j. crew ads as of late. anyway, congrats. this zebra print is super cute.

a happier success story than the silly pink ipod coming late to the party. yes, apple often makes me so mad! their marketing dept. could use someone so savvy like you!

i like children's shoes (because i could clearly not fit a child's extra large anything) but i can wear those tiny shoes!

I love the sweater and always wished I were either tiny petite or long and willowy. Didn't get either one. You are so cute.

they aren't what they used to be. the 12-year-olds in my sunday school class are all almost taller than me.i played basketball with them last night, not a pretty sight.

Success! At last! Why didn't you tell me? Or, better yet, show me. Methinks we discussed this idea juntos....

omg, i think this might be the best news I've ever heard. i just picked up a shirt from the kids department in Target the other day, but it never even occurred to me to check the kids stuff in other stores. yay for tiny torsos!

I considered some Michael Kors boots in the children's sections at Nordstroms. Your post is making me reconsider not trying them on.

I love this idea! I wore jeans from the GAP kids until the end of high school or something so I am a huge supporter of kids clothes for adults! ha ha! I might have to test this idea out again...

Great sweater!

You may not be tall enough to get on the ride, but you can rock the kids clothes. Good trade-off :)
