Let's Clear the Air, Shall We?

It has been suggested in a comment on this post that I plagiarized/copied the idea for my bad news letter to Old Man Winter from a Canadian journalist who wrote a letter to Mother Nature. If I may, let me take a few moments to state the facts.

Fact: I've never seen or heard of this Canadian publication/website/article/journalist until today.

Fact: As one who takes pride in her own creativity, I am a little hurt at the mere suggestion that I would take the ideas of another.

Fact: If I stole any hint of an idea whatsoever in this post, then I stole it from my brother-in-law, C2000. He regularly gives verbal bad news letters to people, that go a little something like this: "Dear Soandso, BAD NEWS: you ___________. Sincerely, C2000." So let me give credit where credit is due---C2000, thank you for introducing me to bad news letters. But really, didn't you learn that in your business writing class at the university? So maybe I should find your professor and ask him/her if it's ok for me to write bad news letters to people.

Fact: I would never call Mother Nature a b****, slut, or make other degrading remarks (as the article does). It's common knowledge that is no way to treat a lady.

Whew, I feel better now. With that said, I wish you all a lovely weekend. I'm taking a break and heading to southern California for a few days to reunite with old friends. Happy Easter!

My sister beat me to it, bummer.

Whatever Mr. Anonymous! (notice I said Mr. - funny)

The great thing about blogs is that we can all get ideas from others and make them our own.

Those nay sayers are always anonymous aren't they.

Have a Haaapy Easter and a great weekend!

Good For You! I throughly enjoyed your bad news letter...and as a Canadian myself, I never read McLean's and would not of seen their article, so I highly doubt that Jamieanne (an American) has it on the top of her to read list! So no...I don't think it's "obvious"!

One of the reasons I LOVE your blog is because you are so original. I scoff at anyone who suggest's otherwise. Happy Easter to you!

What?! You don't read a Canadian journal first thing in the morning? You gotta get out more. Live a little. :)

And thanks for treating Mother Nature like a lady.

Seriously, what ever happened to "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all?" Keep up the funnies cause I love them!

Anonymous - what a jerk! I can't believe someone would take the time and effort to rain on your parade. And good for you that you didn't let them!
Have fun on your time away. I'm going away too and am going to see Wilco in concert. Yippee!

Loved your letter. Loved your response.

Can't stand dumb anonymous comments. I wish people wishing to leave dumb comments would get a little creative and at least use a pen name, such as "Borntoannoy" or "Dorkface" or "Whydoesntanyonereturnmycalls" or something like that...

Dear Anonymous: BAD NEWS. You are sorely mistaken. The "bad news letter" has been a good joke in our family for decades...or at least two or three years since Dirty Curty took business writing class and taught us the fine points of breaking bad news.

I think you might just be joking or trying to drive traffic to your Canada blog by way of Jamie Anne's.

i'm hoping "anonymous" is one of your friends looking to create a stir. .Unfortunately, i've had some nasty comments myself and finally put up "rules" for my blog. I've had nothing by niceness ever since.

have fun in cali.

People are so annoying. Your letter was great. I loved reading it. I write a lot of political stuff on my blog so I get some not-so-nice comments every now and again. I just ignore them. Your blog is great!

Hey! I saw your blog through Sussy's! Anyway, I just wanted to say I think it's lame when people feel the need to comment, but are afraid to put their name. I loved your post! Have fun in Cali!
