I've been keeping a secret for a few weeks now. I think I haven't wanted to throw it out into the open, because I'm in complete and total denial. Sunday was my birthday. I lalalalove my birthday so so so much. But this one--though fabulous beyond compare--made me a bit sad. You see, it's my last birthday living in the Big Apple.
There. I said it. And now the tears are streaming down my face. But what I really meant to say is, I'm moving. So I guess I didn't even really say it the first time. But now I did. I can barely think it, let alone utter it aloud, without getting teary and bleary and smeary-eyed.
This has been my home. Or at least that's how it feels. I was born a Mid-Westerner, raised a Westerner, and lately lived as an Easterner. Or rather a New Yorker. We're headed West again, and I'm not quite sure how I feel. We thought we were here for good. But sometimes things change, something comes along, and you just can't say no. No matter how badly you want to.
So here it is. More definite now that it's in print. I'm moving soon. Very soon. It's all happened rather quickly you see. I'm certain that the next little while, I'll be musing away on my bla bla bla blog with 'woe is me' tales of my heartbreak over leaving New York City. Bear with me. I'm coping.

You cope and I'll rejoice! Can't wait to see you soon.
Strange how many people I know in NY who are calling it quits as of late. It's quite odd! But three out of the four are heading west so I'm not complaining.
Cope away- but, I hope you enjoyed your birthday, too!
Happy Birthday!
That said, don't even get me started on you leaving our fair city. I can't think about it--I'll be left here all alone!
Except for Britton. And Olivia. Everyone else--abandoners!
oh jamie, happy happy belated birthday. i know you wore a fabulous frock and danced the night away (and i'll have a big box of belated chocolate chocolates for your new doorstep).
i sympathize with your huge upcoming transition. surely it's going to be tough. but opportunities knock for a reason. and the nice thing to remember is that NYC will always be in your heart, you can always HEART NYC for reals, since you were a local.
you'll always look back to your newlywedded days and dream of NYC. don't worry, it'll become a big part of you. and plus, you'll get to bring home all your lovely new pretty purchases, such as your sleeping bag coat. so next time you visit to view the Tree light up, you won't be a silly tourist in a jean jacket. you'll come wise & prepared. plus, you'll have a list of all the good eats n' shops that only locals know about.
live it up a little while longer and capture the moments with your bitty camera. good luck and hip hooray for us!
Happy birthday! So how did you celebrate?
I can understand a little how you feel about leaving NYC. It is one of my favourite cities and to be able to live there would be a dream. But I do believe everything happens for a reason and it doesn't mean that you won't end up there again someday.
Last words: Remember every moment.
I am sad for you! I still have at least a year and half to stay here and I'm already scheming ways to stay longer. No doubt your will find your new locale has wonderful happening and finds too. Good luck with everything!
I know its hard to leave the city that you love. I'm sad for you, but happy for me! And NEXT year, we'll party our little hearts out for your birthday...maybe a girls trip? St George, Vegas, Park City?
First of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I had no idea it was your very special Birthday. Sorry I missed it, I hope it was a great one.
Second, are you moving back to Utah? or somewhere else in the West?...maybe you should keep heading west, west all the way to Hawaii! :)
I'm excited for you. It will be fun to be doing something different and no matter where you are living you can always make it a home...(at least that's what I keep telling my self), right?
happy, happy and sad, sad - change is always rotten - i'm guessing from ali's comment its back to utah?
Happy birthday, and welcome back to the West!
party out west! woo hoo
Happy Birthday! I didn't know it was your birthday when we were chatting on Sunday!
I would feel the exact same way if we moved right now, so I totally understand. I wish you guys so much happiness in your new home! I am sure you will adjust fabulously!
