New Jersey: More Than Meets the Eye

We spent an afternoon lunching and boating at a friends summer home on Green Pond in New Jersey. It was heaven.

These are my feet taking a refreshing dip into the water as I sat at the end of the dock.

I'm gonna be honest -- there's more than meets the eye to Jersey. Don't be fooled. It's awesome.

50 Nifty

After a monster trek crossing the country, we have finally arrived in Utah. Over the next few days, I'll be sharing some of the view out the passenger side window of the car. We hit as many spots as we could and took our time. America is bee-yoo-tee-ful.

And I can't get the 50 states song I learned in grade school out of my head. "Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Carolina, Connecticut (doo dee doo)..."

Downpour

It's blustery and gray. A torrential downpour today. The weather is very reflective of my mood. It's moving day. Perhaps the heavens over NY have opened in sorrow over my departure. I like to think of it that way.
Fingers crossed, the movers make it over. Then I'm driving across the country with the love of my life. Stay tuned...it could get exciting...or dreadfully boring.

Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover (or A Dress By Its Name)

Poor poor dress. You had little hope, what with being labeled the Jersey Puffball Dress from the get go. True, you come from London based design house Bi La Li, so you've got that going for you. And you are constructed from oh so comfortable cotton jersey. But take a look at yourself in photo 1. A bit shapeless. Poofy (like your name says). Some may even say drab. Perhaps lacking the 'wow' factor. Most would pass you by, understanding why you are on the sale rack. But take a lookey at the new you in photo 2. What was once a bit drab looks rather smart. Flirtatious. Chic. Kudos to those lovely accesories. Just goes to show that there is nothing a killer bag, sexy heels, stylish belt, and necklace can't fix.

They're Gonna Want My Sexy Brains, I Just Know It

And I don't stand a chance.

32%

No fair. I even went to The Zombie Survival Guide workshop. Spoke with Max Brooks, zombie awareness expert extraordinaire. Took notes. Studied my enemy and zombie outbreaks. Got protection from the living dead. Learned to organize before they rise!!! This is bad bad news, big time.

C2000, this ones for you.

See how you'll fare here.

Tinkerbell

I sat in the garden/park across the street today when suddenly I was zapped with a puff of water by a sweet, petite fairy. Complete with gigantic glittery pink wings, yellow dress, and blonde curls. She had a spray bottle in her hand (hence the puff of water), which her mother told me was her fairy wand filled with magic potion. Bravo! Shouldn't everyday be a fairy-wings-optional day when you're 3 years old?

The Big Apple

With my imminent departure from NYC looming on the horizon, this Kenneth Jay Lane apple pendant necklace may be a nice little memento, no? I've been eyeing it for a while now. I may have to splurge. It also comes in pink, green, and white. But I like red best.

It's So So Hot

96 degrees + 80 percent humidity. It's so so hot. Yesterday, I had 2 Pinkberry's. Just to make sure I didn't melt.

Confession (or...It's My Party and I'll Cry if I Want To)

I've been keeping a secret for a few weeks now. I think I haven't wanted to throw it out into the open, because I'm in complete and total denial. Sunday was my birthday. I lalalalove my birthday so so so much. But this one--though fabulous beyond compare--made me a bit sad. You see, it's my last birthday living in the Big Apple.

There. I said it. And now the tears are streaming down my face. But what I really meant to say is, I'm moving. So I guess I didn't even really say it the first time. But now I did. I can barely think it, let alone utter it aloud, without getting teary and bleary and smeary-eyed.

This has been my home. Or at least that's how it feels. I was born a Mid-Westerner, raised a Westerner, and lately lived as an Easterner. Or rather a New Yorker. We're headed West again, and I'm not quite sure how I feel. We thought we were here for good. But sometimes things change, something comes along, and you just can't say no. No matter how badly you want to.

So here it is. More definite now that it's in print. I'm moving soon. Very soon. It's all happened rather quickly you see. I'm certain that the next little while, I'll be musing away on my bla bla bla blog with 'woe is me' tales of my heartbreak over leaving New York City. Bear with me. I'm coping.

'Tis The Season

I wish you could see my fridge. Literally a fabric of invitations, announcements, save the dates, and photos of lovebirds who have decided to tie the knot. I've absolutely run out of magnets and almost run out of space. Recently, we received definitely the largest and one of the loveliest invitations to date. Not just an invitation, rather a a book. About 1/4" thick and bound. With pages and everything. It arrived in a special hand made mailer. That's my laptop behind it for size reference. This one is sure to be a grand 2 day affair. I love a good party!

NYC Getaway: Upstate NY

Last weekend, on our way to Niagara Falls, stopped in Palmyra, NY at the Chill & Grill. I can't turn down a good retro sign, blue skies, billowy clouds, hots, and ice cream.

4th

Plan A: Go to beach for the 4th. Problems: cloudy weather, windy, threatening rain. Feelings: Boo.

Plan B: Red Door Spa day. Problems: none. Feelings: after manicures, pedicures, waxing, and facials...ahhhh.

Plan C: Fireworks on the roof deck. Problems: drenched. Feelings: who cares? it's for 'Merica.

Glass House

Gondola ride. Windows on all sides. Bundled up. Almost touching the sky. Descending from 9000 ft. A view to die for.
